Squidlet

Here is a little video we took yesterday evening.  It is a little squid that came up in the 500 micron plankton net.  You can see the beating hearts and its chromatophores.  Enjoy!

Do you know how chromatophores differ between octopus, squid, and cuttlefish?

What other kinds of neat animals did you see? Do they get scared when they are around the equipment you guys use?

We’ve seen squid, salps, dolphins, and tons of flying fish! Closer to when the ship docked, we saw some barracuda. Some animals get scared, but some are attracted to the boat, our equipment, or the lights.
